The iconic Haapsalu scarf or Haapsalu shawl is a hand knitted lace shawl that originated in the seaside resort town of Haapsalu, Estonia (formerly known as Hapsal) during the early 19th century.
A desired souvenir and gift among the Russian aristocrats, including the Romanov family, who frequented Haapsalu - the Haapsalu Scarf remains a timeless classic to this day and is considered a heirloom item rich in history and savoir-faire.
The Haapsalu Scarf is hand made in Haapsalu by our master artisans who knit the shawls so fine that the scarf can be pulled through a lady's wedding ring. One scarf takes two weeks time in creation.
This pattern was specially made for the HM The Queen Silvia Renate, Queen of Sweden - for her visit to Haapsalu in 1992.
PS! The Haapsalu Scarf may be the perfect addition to an utterly romantic or a discreetly minimal bridal look for a woman longing to cherish this timeless piece forever.
